Let’s Keep Healthy

This month I’ve started increase my fitness goals by enlisting a personal trainer Lynn McBrearty (A Fitter Life) from Newport Pagnell. Happiness comes in many forms and people often ask what do i to de-stress after a long days work.  I consider myself to live quite a simple life and my therapy work gives me so much joy.  It really doesn’t feel like a job but more a lifestyle. One of the best thing i have in my life to help me feel happy is my pet dog Inuki. Taking her for long walks and playing games keeps me and her happy and active.  She is one of the best companions a person can have, just look at her and you’ll see why.

I personally have taken into having crystal light wake me up naturally as sunlight comes through my bedroom window. You can see the  sunlight refracting rainbow spectrum light around the room. Its a fantastic way to spread positive energy around your room.

Back From Japan

Hello Everyone!

I had great time in Japan sightseeing, catching with friends, having good food and soaking up the culture. It’s good to be back though and I’m feeling recharged.

I hope all my clients have been well whilst I’ve been away. The clinic opened yesterday and it’s been super busy. Apologies if you haven’t been able to get an appointment this week. AKUEN reviews Nutri-Ninja Pulverizer

Government guild line state that we should have five portion of fruit and veg a day.  But did you know it was actually meant to be around eight portions of fruit and veg through the initial recommendations, however it was thought that eight portions was not achievable by most people and was then lowered to five.  With that in mind i decided to take up juicing or pulverizing and this bring me to this kitchen gizmo.  The Nutri Ninja is one of the latest food processors that are on the market that can extract micro nutrients by pulverizing everything so that its easy to absorb into you body. Now just to be clear i don’t work or have any loyalty to selling this product.  This review is purely my own experience of the machine.  With that said i have list the good points and some of the bad points about it.


1) Fast to clean, after a blend you just rinse it under the tap and its clean.

2) I typically have about 3 a day and its dead easy to use, just throw the fruit and veg,seeds in with a bit of water of juice and turn it on. It breaks everything up and ready for drinking.

3) It been great to use up a lot of left over veg that been sitting at the back of the fridge.

4) I haven’t snacked much since i got the Nutri ninja as i tend to just make a shake to satisfy any cravings.

5) On average i would eat around have about 8-10 portion of fruit and veg per day.  My first breakfast blend will typically be a a mix of fruits, kale,spinach, lind seed, black sesame seed, chia seed, walnuts and fresh juice.  Lunchtime would typically be a veg based blend with carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, ginger and mint and some frozen berries for for flavour.  Evening would be a mix of any other fruit and veg that i havent had that day.

6) I can take a mix some Chinese herbs in that benefit my body with the tastes as its masked by the fruits generally.

AKUEN Reviews INSANITY workout

INSANITY REVIEW: So i said i was trying this Insanity workout for its 60 day challenge, as couple of clients that asked me about if it was a good way to lose weight. So far i’m on day 20 so i thought id share some findings and results.
Firstly i wasn’t really doing it to lose weight, more for thinking about toning up.

Anyways… positive stuff first:
1) I started with a weight of 67kg and now having just weighted myself, i come in at 61kg. 
2) My quads are much more defined especially the section above the knee.
3) Biceps and triceps are more firm and flex larger than my normal skinny arms (unfortunately i didn’t measure them before i started) 4) My stamina and endurance has improved greatly from days 1 which was really stop startish and gasping for air and water, to now being able to get through most of the DVD with a couple breaks during the intervals.
5) I beat all my day 1 fit test scores by quite a hefty amount on day 15.
6)I have much better energy throughout the day, even more than i had before. First time i really noticed it, it kept me up much later than my normal sleep time.

Some of the negatives:
1) On the first few days i felt a few knee twinges from all the squats and jumping. i would say that if you are a bigger person, you should wear some knee straps and may need to modify some of the moves to reduce impact.
2) The form is hard to keep a lot of the times and also its difficult to hold the core when you i still trying to figure out the moves.
3) Each DVD does take 45-60mins and its often hard to fit it in. Some nights i did it at 23:00 which pushes onto midnight.
4)After a while you know what is going to be said by Shaun T as you have seen the DVD a few times lol.
5) You will feel achy from time to time as the exercises vary.

On the whole i would say that if you stick at it and don’t miss a night., you will defiantly lose weight. Just doing the best you can to keep up with the DVD will make you sweat so much.

More review on 40 day mark. if the results are good i show the before and after shots.  Will keep you posted.

Blog: New Years

Find the right balance in life.  Everything in moderation is key.  

This Festive period i went to Glencoe, Scotland to do some snowboarding and explore Loch Lomond. It was a wonderful trip filled nice relaxing walks and good times spend with loved ones, but of course not forgetting the food. Its so easy to over indulge when you are off work, and i do hold my hands up and admit that i’m no saint when it comes to food(chunckle). So now i’m back for a few days now its time to put keep up the balancing work, pick up the exercise and start being better to my body.  

I’m not one for new years resolutions, as i tend to be quite disciplined with myself throughout the year, but i did decide to take up the 60 day Insanity challenge.  For those that are not familiar with Insanity, its basically a fitness set of DVDs that you can do at home. If i get some good results ill be sure to pass on the experience.  I will keep you posted on how i get on and maybe ill post that cheesy before and after picture that you see on websites.

Happy Christmas and New Year
